Bruno Barbey is a Frenchman born in Morocco. He studied photography and graphic arts at the École des Arts et Métiers in Vevey, Switzerland. Over four decades, Barbey has journeyed across five continents and into numerous military conflicts, covering civil wars in Nigeria, Vietnam, the Middle East, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Northern Ireland, Iraq, and Kuwait. He has received many awards for his work, including the French National Order of Merit. His photographs have been exhibited internationally and are in numerous museum collections. During a brief stop in New York, Barbey decided to photograph the city during one of the strangest days of the year: Halloween. Garry Brown, a Scottish illustrator currently working in California, was born on Halloween in 1981. He graduated from the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in 2010. His work has been published in numerous comic books, including in Brian Woods’s The Massive, for which he was the regular interior artist. Alberto Mena is a graphic designer based in New York. Harvey Wang is a New York–based photographer who has published six books of photography. His newest book, From Darkroom to Daylight, explores the dramatic change from film to digital in photography and features portraits and interviews with important figures in the field. For more than ten years, Jason Kernevich and Dustin Summers have been working together as The Heads of State. They’ve created award-winning posters, book covers, branding, and illustration for a diverse and impressive list of clients. In 2012, they launched Pilot and Captain, a design venture focused on creating T-shirts, posters, and products inspired by the golden age of travel. They lecture frequently about their work and process and teach graphic design and illustration at the Tyler School of Art, where they both studied.
