Danny Crichton

Danny Crichton is a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, where he analyzes technology, growth, and power. Crichton is editor in chief of Securities and head of editorial at Lux Capital, a venture capital firm investing in emerging and growth-stage science and technology ventures.

Previously, he was managing editor at TechCrunch and a foreign correspondent based in Seoul, South Korea. While abroad, Crichton reported on U.S.-Asia technology relations, semiconductors, data infrastructure, fintech, disaster and climate tech, and the intersections of technology and policy. He has written for the Foreign Policy Research Institute, City Journal, and National Review. Crichton was also an early-stage venture capitalist with General Catalyst in Palo Alto and Charles River Ventures in Boston and New York.

In 2011, Crichton was awarded a Fulbright research scholarship to South Korea, where he studied the development of Korea’s startup ecosystem. He graduated with honors from Stanford University, where he studied mathematical and computational sciences and wrote a thesis on the development of computer science as an academic discipline, which won the school’s Firestone Medal for Excellence in Undergraduate Research.
